Equine Careers Workshop

EQUINE CAREER NIGHT

When:  Thursday, October 15th   6:30PM to 8:00PM

Where:  The Community Room at the Whitman Police Station, 20 Essex Street, Whitman, MA 02382

The Plymouth County Extension 4-H Office invites 4-H'ers from any club and their families to learn more about careers in the equine industry.

The night will feature a panel of local equine experts and professionals from different fields and will include:

  • ·         Horse Chiropractor
  • ·         Equine Retailer & Marketer
  • ·         Registered Judge
  • ·         Vet and/or Vet Tech
  • ·         Barn Manager, Breeder & Trainer

A moderator will interview the panel so you can hear how they choose their profession, how they trained for it and what they do in a typical day.  You'll get the whole scoop from people who know best.  Then you can ask your questions and get the answers you've been looking for.

This is a fantastic opportunity to explore the wide open range of careers with horses.  Light refreshments will be served compliments of the Hot to Trots 4-H Club.  All are welcome but space is limited.  While not required you may want to RSVP to Reva Levin:  reva@chegg.com and please put 4-H Equine Career Night in the subject line please.

Cornfest This Weekend

Just a reminder that we have Cornfest this weekend - Sat and Sun 10-4 at Jacob's Lane in Norwell.  The plan is to load up at 9 am at Big Jim's house and head out from there - or meet up there whenever you can if you can't make it early. Just do what you can.

Next weekend (Sat the 19th) is Farm Day at O'Neil Farm - stay tuned for plans on that one.  It is also Dairy Breed show at the Big E. with Dairy Fitting and Showing on Sunday the 20th from 9 am til around 1 or 2.  It's a long drive but a great show. As if that wasn't enough the Cow kissing contest in Scituate is on the 19th as well, and Tufts Vet School open house is the 20th.  Phew!

It was a great fair this year!  I hope everyone had fun.  There will be no barn meeting this Saturday due to the holiday weekend and general adult exhaustion. ;-))

Planning ahead if anyone is interested Tufts is having an open house at the Vet School on September 20.  http://vet.tufts.edu/open-house/  for more info.
